For a Better World 2022

May 5, 2022

Recently I had the opportunity to illustrate a poem as part of a publication called For a Better World 2022: Poems and Drawings on Peace and Justice by Greater Cincinnati Artists.

This book is the 19th in a series of annual publications from SOS Art that partners poets with visual artists to create work concerning themes of peace and justice. Included in this collection are poems by 93 local poets and drawings by 40 local visual artists.

For my drawing I selected the poem “The Cost of Love” by Ella Cather-Davis. As a bonified cat person this poem spoke to me immediately. It tells the story of a woman nervously anticipating that she will be required to give beyond her means in order to provide necessary care for her feline companion.

The book will be printed; however, a digital version is already published and can be viewed here.
